About the Journal
Focus and Scope
The Psychology and Health Journal is a product of the Graduate Program in Psychology of Universidade Católica Dom Bosco which provides, every four months, original and unpublished articles related to the various theoretical and methodological fields of Psychology and their relationship with Health. also, multi and interdisciplinary works in the dialogue of Psychologies with related areas.
The Journal's mission is to disseminate scientific knowledge in the face of contemporary issues of human behavior and health promotion, enabling the development of Psychology as a discipline and professional practice.
Thematic Axes
Contributions submitted to Revista Psicologia e Saúde must be included in one of the following thematic axes:
1. Health assessment and care
a. In this line, we are dealing with articles linked to different psychological perspectives whose focus is the relationship Psychology and Health. Specifically
i. psychological evaluation, psychopathology and mental health
ii. validation of clinical measures and procedures
iii. delimitation of epidemiological profile and statistical measures developed in the field of Health Psychology
2. Public policies, culture and social productions
a. In this line, we are dealing with articles linked to different psychological perspectives whose focus is the relationship Psychology and Health. Specifically
i. Historiographical, theoretical-conceptual and genealogical investigations of psychological theories, practices and objects
ii. Productions that focus on subjectivity from the articulation between health, politics, culture and social practices
iii. Studies in public policies, public health and health care practices
Contribution Types
1.Empirical Studies: Original research reports with primary or secondary data sources. They are typically organized to reflect the stages of the research process in the following sequence: introduction, method, results, discussion, conclusions and references. It should contain from 15 to 25 pages, including abstracts, figures, tables and references.
2. Theoretical studies: Works based on current empirical literature to propose theoretical advances. Authors should present the development of a theory to expand or refine theoretical constructs, present a new theory, or analyze an existing theory by presenting its weaknesses or demonstrating the advantage of one theory over another. The authors are expected to analyze the internal consistency of a theory as well as its external validity. The presentation of the sections may vary according to their content. It should contain from 15 to 25 pages, including abstracts, figures, tables and references. contener de 15 a 25 páginas, incluyendo resúmenes, figuras, tablas y referencias.
3. Literature Review: It consists of a comprehensive and critical assessment of pertinent literature to a topic of interest in psychology identifying gaps, contradictions, inconsistencies or relationships not yet identified in this literature. The Revista Psicologia e Saúde only conducts systematic review work - with or without meta-analysis - and strongly recommends the adoption of the guidelines of the PRISMA group. The manuscript should contain between 15 and 25 pages including abstracts, figures, tables and references.
4. Methodological Articles: It consists of the presentation of new methodological approaches, alteration of existing methods or discussions about analytical data approaches to the scientific community. Empirical data, in this case, is used solely as an illustration of the data analysis technique. It should contain from 15 to 25 pages, including abstracts, figures, tables and references.
5. Review: Presentation of the content of a work fundamentally accompanied by a critical evaluation, guiding the reader as to its characteristics and potential uses. The review must have a maximum of 6 pages including all its elements. The review work must have a maximum of 3 years of publication. No abstracts or keywords
Open Access Policy
The articles published in Revista Psicologia e Saúde holds the copyrights of all the texts published by it. Due to that, there’s a demand for a letter of cession of copyrights (see Appreciation). The total reproduction of any article that has been published by this journal, in other publications, by any means, demands the written permission of the Editorial Board. Partial reproductions of articles (abstracts, more than 500 words of text, tables, pictures and other illustrations, sound files) require the written permission both the Editorial Board and the Authors.

Ethical Guidelines and Best Practices for Publishing
To publish a manuscript in the Journal of Psychology and Health you must comply with standards of ethical behavior expected by all parties involved in the act of publication: authors, journal editors and reviewers. The standards for the purpose of publishing texts in our Journal are based on the “Best Practice Guidelines for Magazine Publishers” described by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Duties of the Editors
- Publication decisions
Chief editors of the journal Psychology and Health are responsible for deciding which articles submitted to the journal should be rejected or published, with or without requesting modifications. Editors may consult the journal's editorial board and will consider legal requirements regarding matters such as defamation, copyright infringement and plagiarism.
2.Fair play
Editors should ensure that manuscripts are evaluated for intellectual content, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, nationality, or political philosophy of the authors.
3. Confidentiality
Editors should ensure that information about manuscripts submitted by authors is kept confidential.
4. Disclosure and conflicts of interest
Unpublished materials published in a manuscript submitted for review should not be used in publishers' own research without the express written consent of the authors.
Duties of reviewers
1. Contribution to editorial decisions
Reviewers should help editors make editorial decisions. They may also assist authors in improving manuscripts by suggesting modifications.
2. Punctuality
Any reviewers who feel unable to review manuscript research should immediately notify the editors and withdraw from the review process.
3. Confidentiality
Papers received for review should be treated by reviewers as confidential documents. They should not be shown or discussed with others unless authorized by the editors.
4. Objectivity Patterns
Reviews and opinions should be conducted and written objectively. Reviewers should express their views clearly, using arguments that support their assessment. Personal criticism of the authors is inappropriate
5. Sources Recognition
The Reviewers should point out relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors. Reviewers should also draw the editors' attention to any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript in question and any other published work of which they have personal knowledge.
6. Disclosure and conflict of interest
Inside information or ideas obtained by reading the manuscripts should be kept confidential and should not be used for the personal benefit of the reviewers. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competition, collaboration, or other relationships or links with any of the manuscript authors, companies, or institutions.
Duties of the authors
1. Report of Standards and Procedures
Authors should provide an accurate account of the research work carried out, as well as an objective analysis of its meaning. Underlying data must be accurately presented in the manuscript. An article should contain sufficient details and references to allow others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or intentionally inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.
2. Data Access and Retention
Authors may be required to provide raw data related to the submitted manuscript for editorial review purposes and should retain the data for a period of five years after publication.
3. Originalidade e plágio – Originality and plagiarismArticles submitted to the Journal, before being submitted for peer review, undergo plagiarism detection software such as CopySpider and others. After, it is possible that the Journal questions the authors about information identified by the tool, in order to guarantee the originality of the published manuscripts. We affirm that plagiarism is configured as unacceptable editorial behavior, so if it proves the existence of plagiarism, it is forbidden for authors to submit papers to the Journal again.
4. Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publishing
Authors should not publish manuscripts that describe essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Additionally, submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously constitutes unethical behavior and is unacceptable.
5. Sources Recognition
Proper recognition of the work of other researchers should always be done. Authors should cite all publications that have influenced the determination of the nature and results of the reported work.
6. Article Authorship
Authorship should be limited to those who made a significant contribution to the design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. The lead author should also ensure that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the document and agreed to its submission for publication. After accepted, it is no longer allowed to add more authors to the submission.
7. Disclosure and conflicts of interest
All authors should disclose in the manuscript any financial conflict of interest, professional or of any other substantive nature that may be interpreted as influencing the search results or the interpretation of the results. In addition, all sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.
8. Fundamental errors in published works
When an author finds a significant error or inaccuracy in their own published work, it is their obligation to immediately notify and collaborate with the Editorial Team to retract or correct the article.
