This article presents an integrative review on international scientific production regarding the impacts of the covid-19 pandemic on the mental health of university students. We analyzed 44 articles found in LILACS, PubMed, PsycInfo and SciElo databases, where it is shown that covid-19 has caused significant worsening in the mental health of the academic community around the world, mainly generating moderate and severe symptoms of anxiety and depression. It is necessary that higher education institutions have knowledge about this fact and create mechanisms of listening and psychic support to provide better conditions to face the current condition.
