Salud Mental y Cambio de Peso durante la Pandemia de COVID-19 en el Sur de Brasil

Introducción: Durante la pandemia de COVID-19, se observó la aparición de trastornos psicosociales y aumento de peso en las populaciones. Por tanto, el objetivo fue evaluar la asociación entre síntomas de salud mental y percepción de cambio de peso durante la pandemia de COVID-19 en adultos de la ciudad de Siderópolis, ubicada en el sur de Santa Catarina. Métodos: Estudio transversal de base poblacional realizado con personas de 18 años o más. La percepción del cambio de peso (disminución o aumento) fue el resultado y la presencia de síntomas de salud mental fue la exposición. Se utilizó la regresión de Poisson ajustada para evaluar la asociación y los resultados se expresaron como tasa de prevalencia (TP). Resultados: Se estudiaron 609 individuos, de los cuales el 66,5% refirió síntomas de salud mental; el 26,4%, aumento; y el 16,7% disminución de peso. Las personas con síntomas de salud mental tuvieron una prevalencia 55% mayor de aumento de peso percibido (IC95%: 1,34-2,55), en comparación con aquellos sin síntomas. No se observó asociación con la pérdida de peso. Conclusión: El desarrollo de estrategias de salud que consideren la alimentación como un factor influyente en la salud mental, especialmente después de la pandemia de COVID-19, es fundamental para la población.
